In a bizarre crossover event that breaks usual predictions, Ubisoft has announced an in-game crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual Thanksgiving event runs from November 25 through December 22, including complimentary extra story content for Shadows players.

Mysterious Questline Disclosed

According to the formal statement, "An unusual confrontation draws protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh adventure, where whispers of banned ceremonies and terrifying changes reverberate through the obscurity." The narrative presents a "oddly garbed woman named Ada" who tasks the duo with venturing into the Crystalline Cavern—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her ally from a hidden sect.

The mission focuses on "peculiar trials and a fearsome foe" and is accessible to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.

Familiar Locations and Metamorphoses

The teaser highlights the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This important location was earlier where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through generations. The teaser ends with a striking scene showing a character, probably the hostage, transforming into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.

Special Prizes and Additional Content

Players who successfully complete the mission will obtain an exclusive katana alongside numerous items concealed throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also contains purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:

• Mikasa outfit for Naoe
• Exclusive weapons
• Survey Corps vehicle

Latest Free Story Addition

This release also brings the game's latest free story addition, titled "The Mystery." This humorous mission teams Naoe and Yasuke as they trade signature skills: Naoe reveals a performative interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-lethal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "A Puzzlement" also contains a fresh environmental puzzle that may finally clarify some lingering questions from the main storyline.

This marks scarcely the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with famous anime properties. The series formerly showcased a 2020 cross-promotional story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
